Now you are getting to the good stuff, gear. A gearhead is someone who is borderline obsessive about gear. How can you spot a gearhead? Easy, they are always searching for gear deals online on websites like backcountry. They say things like, “woah is that a Black Diamond ATC pilot?”
Now there is no need to panic if you walk into the Mountaineer and start debating with the climbing specialist what ropes are the best or if the Metolius Freerider Pack(good for cragging sport or traditional climbing) is better than the Osprey Mutant 38 climbing bag (good for alpinism), you’ve made it. You are a rock climber.
