- Information Collection and Use
Adirondackexplorer.org collects information from our users at several different points on our website including when you place an order or request free materials. Adirondackexplorer.org is the sole owner of the information collected on this site. We will not sell or rent this information to others in ways different from what is disclosed in this statement. We may share this information exclusively with the entity that referred you to Adirondackexplorer.org. We request information from the user on our order form. Here a user must provide contact information (name and shipping address) and financial information (credit card number, expiration date). This information is used for billing purposes and to fill customer’s orders. If we have trouble processing an order, this contact information is used to get in touch with the user. You may receive order confirmation, information on product research and other emails from time to time. Users who no longer wish to receive our information may opt-out of receiving these communications by calling or emailing us. It may take several days to completely remove a user from all of our lists.
Like many other groups, Adirondack Explorer periodically exchanges its donor mailing list with like-minded organizations and list some donor names on our website and where required in public filings with the Internal Revenue Service.
If you wish to opt out of having your name and address shared with other organizations or wish your contributions to be anonymous you can also, call, email, or write to us.
If this privacy policy changes, the revised policy will be posted on this site. Please check back periodically, and especially before you provide any personally identifiable information.
2. Security
This website takes every precaution to protect our users’ information. When users submit sensitive information via the website, that information is protected both online and off-line. When our registration/order form asks users to enter sensitive information (such as credit card number and/or social security number), that information is encrypted and is protected with the best encryption software in the industry – SSL. While on a secure page, such as our order form, the lock icon on the bottom of Web browsers such as Chrome, Firefox and Safari becomes locked, as opposed to un-locked, or open, when you are just ‘surfing’. To learn more about SSL, follow this link https://stripe.com.
While we use SSL encryption to protect sensitive information online, we also do everything in our power to protect user information off-line. All of our users’ information, not just the sensitive information mentioned above, is restricted in our offices. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, our billing clerk or a customer service representative) are granted access to personally identifiable information. If you have any questions about the security at our website, you can send an email to [email protected]
