This photo gallery shows a sleepy but scenic Raquette Lake on a Friday afternoon. The quiet scene is a result of a slowdown in tourism due to the pandemic. Most years Friday afternoons in July in this tiny hamlet are much busier, with boats waiting for space on the bustling dock as vessels and visitors come and go.

Ed and Judy Fuhr, of Colton, are featured in the July issue of the Explorer as Trailblazers. The couple volunteer their time to run a paddling race and upgrade ski and hiking trails at Higley Flow State Park just northwest of the Adirondack Park. Higley Flow is an impoundment of the Raquette River, which runs through the Adirondack Park.

The Sweeney family, of Boonville, says road salt contaminated their drinking water, killing livestock on their farm and causing health issues for them. Former farm owners Benjamin and Barbara Sweeney passed on the farm to their son, Brian Sweeney.
