G'day

It's hard to even have some free time to surf the cyber world this era with this economy going on up and down and all around, I was wondering if I should go to get some money on credit but the banks are not so easy with small companies this days. Anyhow, with all this usual troubles that lead to anything good at least I came across an intresting blog.

I was studying concrete, beams, construction topics mainly and I came across this beauty of yours. Some intellectual accomplishment until I finish my work

So sad about the loon. Death a common thing but difficult to read about, hear about be around. Article says the redthroated loon found in Old Forge area not common to the area.
It must have gotten separated from it's group somehow? Would this be correct?

Brings back good memories of birding while living and working on the former Plattsburgh AFB in the late 80s. I remember tenting in our yard on the base (right next to Lake Champlain) and hearing a common loon calling from the lake. My wife and I got our start in birding at the ADK Mt. Club's Loj, with Mark Gretch as our leader. Those were great days.

Hi Gary,

So those really were geese that I heard that day?! I thought I was hearing things because I assumed they had all migrated south by now. Do they typically hang around this late in the season?

Gary,

Every time I read your column in the paper, I think to myself, "Gary should do a blog". Glad to see it happen - and it will be great to see your photos in color too.
